I just finished my spray paint version (rendition) of a painting originally done by a French neo-classic painter Merry-Joseph Blondel. The name of this painting is "Lycurgus" ( Lycurgus of Sparta, creator of constitution of Sparta).

PANGEA

When I was a kid, I loved going to my brothers concerts. He once gave me a sketch for one of his concert flyers. It was a picture of two bodies with connecting heads. It represents a complementary reflection of two souls. Even though it was just a small idea then, it stayed in my mind and grew as something bigger and much more profound. For me it was the idea of love, the way it should be. Two bodies that share the same thought, feeling and perspective.
A while ago, after remembering that image, I decided to give it a name and bring it back to life. Symbolically, I named it Pangea.

Pescenica Cultural Centar gave me the permission to paint one of my stories on their biggest wall.
I didn't have much time for sketching, and I couldn't make up my mind about which idea is the most "appropriate" for the wall.
Something new suddenly came up to my mind...a new story...

I'll start with the ending and draw my way up to the beginning, but it's probably going to take me awhile to get it done, mostly because the other scenes aren't going to be... that legal.

Communication brakedown:

While finishing our paintings, Stipan Tadic and I were forced to stop our work becouse, as it turned out, the permission we were given wasn't even legally authorised....That's what I call irony.
Stipan painted three scenes with randomly chosen people from the fair, and he only has one more to finish. I have to finish the first one, and than do one more to complete my story.
When we get the permission, this monument to Hrelic, as Stipan wrote, will be finished.

When I asked my friend to come to my studio and bring some of the stuff from Hrelic, one of the things she brought was this retro robot. Since it's hard to find this type of old retro toy in such good shape, I've made a lot of sketches/photos for more than just one "story".

Muzej Kvarta- Neighbourhood Museum ( Part 1)

Back on the street again :
I've started a new project in collaboration with Muzej Kvarta. This time I'm painting a story inspired by the location that was given to me- Zapruđe neighbourhood. I like this part of New Zagreb, mostly because of all the pillars of the underpass, standing in line, waiting to be painted...and of course, because of the Hrelic...

Hrelic is the largest Sunday flea market situated on the outskirts of the city ( 5 minutes from Zapruđe), and it's jam packed with goodies from cars, motorcycles, second hand clothes, axes, books, mowers, faucets,VHS porn, to thousands of other funny accessories. My friend Iva is one of those people who's Sunday routine is to wake up early in the morning and go to the Hrelic. Some time ago, I asked her to come to my studio and bring some of the stuff she bought there. In my studio we made a few photos for the painting that will be dedicated to this Sunday routine.

REMINDER

This is a place I like to visit almost every week, especially in the morning when there's no one around.
Even though it seems abandoned, this place is very much alive and constantly changing. Five weeks ago I started painting "a reminder " for all the visitors such as myself, but last week, I was caught while finishing it...
I had to buy a bottle of whiskey for the guard that caught me, or else he would have called the police.

This reminds me that everything flows, especially time.
This reminds me that I should paint faster.

Inspired by an old sketch, I finally decided to take all spray cans I had, and find the best legal graffiti wall in Zagreb.
